SUNNY 95 Christmas Idol Contest

2012

OFFICIAL RULES

1.  Beginning October 29th, SUNNY 95/WSNY will give Kindergarten through 12th grade school choirs in Central Ohio a chance to win $1,000 for their music department and if available, a performance slot on the WSNY Live Holiday Morning Show broadcast on December 21, 2012 (Prize).  Prize will be awarded to the final winner(s) as described below in each of three categories of competition: 1) Elementary School division, 2) Junior High division and 3) High School division.

2.  School choirs are responsible for submitting entries before 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.  Each entry must include one (1) holiday song recorded on CD or common audio file such as an mp3 or wav and include the lead representative’s name, school, and contact information. The representative submitting the entry is responsible for having received previous written permission from all performers or from a parent or legal guardian if the performer is under 18 years of age.

3.  One entry per choir, singing group or performance unit.  Realizing that schools may have multiple choirs based on grade level and size, separate multiple entries may be submitted from any individual school.  Each entry must be submitted separately on the submission page of Sunny95.com, or in case of electronic issues, dropped off at the WSNY Studios, 4401 Carriage Hill Lane, Columbus, OH 43220. Entry deadline is 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012.

4.  Each entry will be judged for professional sound and performance quality.  Choirs will be selected by WSNY judges to participate in the competition.  Each choir selected to be in the competition will have their entry placed on-line for voting between December 10th and 13th, 2012.  Votes will be taken and tabulated online at www.Sunny95.com until 11:59pm on December 13th.  The school choirs receiving the most votes in each division will win. If an entrant receives irregular votes, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, or other automated means, the station reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion and/or use another means to determine the winner(s), ex. - random selection or appointing a panel of judges. All decisions of the judges are final.  The grand prize winners in each division will be announced the morning of Friday, December 14, 2012 (date subject to change if necessary).  The school choirs receiving the most votes in each division on the WSNY website in the final round of competition will win $1,000 from SMART Federal Credit Union for their school’s music department.  WSNY is not responsible for inability to vote on the station’s website due to technical difficulties.  Prize will not be awarded to any individual(s) but will be awarded to the legal school district or organization operating the winning school.  Prize cannot be transferred or substituted. 

5.  Contest is open to all Kindergarten through 12th grade public or private schools accredited by the State of Ohio in the Central Ohio MSA counties.  Chances of winning will be determined by the number of entries received in each division and votes received and are not possible to calculate at this time.

6.  WSNY retains sole and exclusive possession and retains all rights to use any performance entry, or any part there of, indefinitely in any promotions including but not limited to on-air usage.   The aforementioned stipulations apply to all winning and non-winning entries.  WSNY and participating sponsors are not responsible for costs associated with submitting any entry or any costs or taxes arising out of participating in the contest or failure to adhere to official contest rules.

7.  WSNY and participating sponsors are not responsible for any injury incurred during the performance of any entry; nor are they responsible for failure of any individual or organization’s failure to submit entries in the required manner. 

8.  All prizes are to be claimed at the WSNY Studios or as decided upon once they have been won.  Checks in the amount of $1,000 will be delivered to the winning schools.  All identification submitted to verify a winner is subject to acceptance by WSNY in its sole discretion.  Identification which is counterfeit, illegible, tampered with or otherwise altered will not be accepted. 

9.  Where applicable; WSNY, affiliates, participating sponsors, their agencies and the like, or any member thereof, make no claims of merchantability or validity of Prize.  See manufacturer(s)/ producer for complete warranty and operating instructions as it pertains to Prize.

10.  Employees of WSNY and Franklin Communications, Inc. and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all radio media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WSNY main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.

11.  All decisions of WSNY concerning this contest or eligibility are final.  Rules are subject to change without notice.  All applicable WSNY general contest rules apply.  No purchase is necessary.  Complete list of rules can be found at www.sunny95.com or at 4401 Carriage Hill Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
